Opus4 is the entry point into the Grado Timbre Series, introducing the tonal character and construction of Grado’s wood body cartridges. Built on decades of cartridge design experience, it delivers a balanced and musical presentation while maintaining the core performance principles that define Grado cartridges.

Utilizing Grado’s moving iron design, Opus4 provides a stable and consistent signal with low moving mass and long-term reliability.

Offered in both stereo and mono configurations, Opus4 represents the foundation of the Grado wood cartridge line.

Performance
Opus4 is available in both high and low output configurations, allowing for compatibility across a wide range of phono stages.

Its presentation is balanced and controlled, with clear detail and a smooth, natural top end. The midrange carries presence and warmth, while low frequencies remain defined and composed.

Recordings are presented with stability and coherence, maintaining separation and musical flow while allowing the character of the recording to come through naturally.

Moving Iron Design
All Grado cartridges utilize a moving iron design built on Joseph Grado’s patented flux-bridger principle.

This approach allows the cartridge to generate a precise signal with extremely low moving mass, while keeping the coil structure fixed. The result is a presentation that combines speed, control, and harmonic integrity without the fragility often associated with traditional moving coil systems.

Diamond & Cantilever
Opus4 features a bonded elliptical diamond mounted to an aluminum cantilever.

The elliptical profile provides effective groove contact and reliable tracking, while the aluminum cantilever contributes to a stable and controlled presentation. This combination delivers clarity and balance across a wide range of recordings.

Coil & Internal Structure
The internal signal path is built using ultra-high purity 5N OCC copper, selected for its conductivity and consistency.

Each cartridge undergoes cryogenic treatment and internal damping to reduce unwanted resonance and preserve signal integrity.

Brian ★★★★★

The first spin immediately showed why the wood housing matters—midrange vocals feel warmer and more textured than my old metal-bodied cart. Tracking is solid on worn records too, which surprised me for an entry-level model. Took about an hour to break in, and now it's the only thing I want on the ta

Henry ★★★★★

The wood body isn't just for looks—it actually seems to tame the high end, making vocals sound warmer and more natural on my vintage table. I've had it in for about two weeks and the tonal character is exactly what I was hoping for.

Ellie ★★★★★

The wood body really cuts down on resonance compared to the metal ones I used before, and the midrange has a natural warmth that makes vocals feel present. Only a few hours in, but the tracking is already solid on my old LPs.
