Where It Begins for So Many
The SR80 is the most recognized headphone in the history of Grado and remains the best-selling model we have ever produced.

For more than three decades it has introduced generations of listeners to the energy and immediacy of open-back headphones. Many of today’s audio reviewers, engineers, and company founders first discovered serious listening through an SR80.

Within the Classic Series, elements once found in the SR125 and SR225 have been thoughtfully consolidated into the SR80, refining performance while preserving its accessibility.

44mm X2 Dynamic Driver
At the center of the SR80 is Grado’s 44mm X2 dynamic driver built around a Mylar diaphragm, copper voice coil, and rare earth magnetic system engineered for efficiency and control.

The X2 platform also incorporates refined tuning developed through years of listening and feedback, improving balance and clarity while preserving the lively character that has long defined the SR80.

Compared with the SR60, the SR80 delivers greater immediacy and presence with tighter bass response, more forward midrange energy, and extended high-frequency detail.

Standard Headband Assembly
The SR80 uses Grado’s standard headband assembly paired with a padded synthetic headstrap.

At the core of the design is Grado’s steel spring band, allowing listeners to easily adjust the inward pressure of the headphones for a personalized and comfortable fit.

Bronze Cable
The SR80 is supplied with Grado’s Bronze cable in a fixed configuration, balancing durability with dependable signal performance.

F Cushions
The SR80 ships standard with Grado F cushions, contributing to a smooth and relaxed presentation.

Grado cushions also act as a tuning element, allowing listeners to personalize their headphones by experimenting with different cushion styles to subtly adjust tonal balance and presentation.

Molded Housing
The SR80 utilizes a lightweight die-injection molded housing that provides durability while keeping the headphone comfortable and easy to wear.

The open-back architecture allows music to breathe naturally.

Sebastian ★★★★★

The open-back design gives such a wide, airy soundstage that even older recordings feel fresh and detailed. Listening for hours has been effortless with the comfortable foam pads, and the bass has surprising punch without being boomy.

Joseph ★★★★★

Plugged them into my vinyl setup and the first thing I noticed was the incredible detail in the midrange, something I’ve never gotten from my old closed-back cans. They’re surprisingly comfortable for long listening sessions once the foam pads break in a bit.

Aurora M. ★★★★★

I was blown away by how open and airy the soundstage feels for an on-ear headphone—it really brings live recordings to life. The foam pads are a bit snug at first but soften up nicely after a few listens.
