Please note, DAPs that have USB-C ports may require changes to settings in order to allow volume to be controlled through the USB-C port. Also, note that the XM-1 is NOT compatible with the Astell & Kern DAPs due to AK’s use of an abbreviated Android OS.

George F. ★★★★★

I'll be honest, the USB-C volume thing takes some fiddling in the settings before it behaves, but once that's sorted these are remarkable. The xMEMS drivers deliver detail I've never heard from anything in this price range.

David ★★★★★

The USB-C volume quirk caught me off guard at first, but a quick settings tweak on my player sorted it out. Now the detail coming off these xMEMS drivers is genuinely impressive, especially on acoustic tracks.

Stella ★★★★★

I've been running these straight off my laptop's USB-C port and had to fiddle with the volume settings like the description warned, but once that was sorted the detail retrieval is genuinely impressive. Snares and cymbals have a snap I didn't expect at this price.
